Each piece is painted by hand — patterns vary slightly, one by one.

Nigiwai.

Every time color leaps, the city smiles.

Festival drums, lantern light, voices in the street.

Japanese cities hold a special energy — nigiwai — born where one person's joy overlaps with another's.

The black and vivid crimson scattered across the white are the crowds crossing Tokyo, the lights of its nights, the confetti dancing at its festivals.

Each mark is free, and none of them match.

Yet as different colors and shapes gather, a rhythm rises, and the whole scene begins to move.

NIGIWAI is a daruma that captures what stillness alone cannot tell — the charm of Japan, and the heat of Tokyo, where tradition and pop culture collide.

May it bring a small skip of the heart to your everyday.

The heat of Tokyo, in your hands.

Your daruma arrives with both eyes blank.
Paint the right eye when you make your wish — the left when it comes true. Learn the ritual on our Craftsmanship page →

One by One.

Every YOHΛKU TOKYO daruma is painted together with craftsmen carrying on Japan's daruma-making tradition. The weight of a line, the momentum of the brush.
No two are ever the same.
